Qualification and skills required:
A relevant qualification in supply chain management, logistics or business administration complimented with at least 8 years within in an engineering manufacturing environment (Marine, Oil and Gas sectors would be an advantage)
 
*Experience:
Supplier and contract management experience
Project management experience
Proven track record as a procurement manager or head of procurement
Proven purchasing experience, preferably within an automotive or manufacturing environment
 
Job Purpose: 
To establish new supply partners and develop existing vendors to provide improved delivery and cost reduction performance through proactive engagement and negotiation
 
Role and Responsibilities:
  • Manage and lead the procurement function consisting of clerical staff (shipping and procurement), buyers and expediters
  • Possess strong motivational, negotiation and people management skills
  • Effectively utilise the existing purchasing team and proactively monitor planned delivery dates and expedite as necessary
  • Develop an effective cost reduction strategy across a diverse and globally distributed supply chain
  • Ensure close liaison with the Projects team providing regular updates on project deliverables
  • Plan and incorporate a strategic purchasing policy, working closely with other Group entities
  • Ensure existing Group procurement policies are adhered to
  • Collect and gather data on alternative suppliers, working with the Quality Manager where necessary to undertake audits and supplier assessments
  • Effective use of the automated procurement systems ensuring invoice payment is effectively controlled and managed
  • Carry out performance reviews and set KPI’s for the Procurement team
