  • Responsibilities
  • Provide technical support to maintenance team
  • Responsible for human resources of the maintenance team
  • Recruit and manage all contractors on projects (mechanical, electrical and civil contractors)
  • Project responsibilities:
    • Project initiation
    • Team Establishment
    • Pre-delivery inspection and sign-off
    • Project execution, plan compilation and implementation
    • Project planning and scheduling and control
    • Project budget compilation, monitoring and control
    • Adhere to all relevant industry standards during installation
    • Compilation of user and operator manuals
    • Operator training and support
    • Machine risk assessment and safety compliance
  • Regular maintenance work (daily inspections, schedules, compiled daily check lists)
  • Resolve product development issues through creative testing and re-engineering
  • Electrical and mechanical fault finding
  • Evaluate electrical systems, products, components, and applications by designing and conducting research programs; applying knowledge of electricity and materials
  • Detailed engineering recommendations on the acceptability / reparability of equipment deviating from the Technical Manufacturing Specification
  • Ensuring and maintaining a safe work environment and adhering to health and safety requirements
  • Management of refrigeration units
  • Be responsible for setting and adhering to repairs and maintenance budgets
  • Install machinery and equipment, trouble shoot and test problems
  • Ability to tig, mig, arc and oxy weld and competent use of hand tools and power tools
  • Manufacture metal components and assemble them to construct industrial machinery, machine components or tools according to Hygienic design specifications and standards
  • A sound knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, electronics and mechanics
  • Assisting with the maintenance of the buildings and plant and checking and maintaining of all water lines
  • Ensure machinery used in production is consistently maintained and oversee any repair work when required
  • Identify process deficiencies and develop solutions to improve those deficiencies
  • Develop CAD project drawings
Qualification:
  • Bachelors in Engineering (Mechanical)
  • Registered as a Mechanical Engineer with ECSA
Experience/skills:
  • Maintenance principles / practices and strategies
  • Risk Management
  • Project Management / Engineering
  • Reliability Engineering
  • Experience in FMCG manufacturing environment
  • Comprehensive understanding of welding procedures
  • Team player and ability to maintain a positive attitude in the team
  • Sound communication skills and ability to give clear instructions
  • Willing to be on standby for breakdowns as well as overseeing and conducting of preventative maintenance over the weekend
  • Disciplined, honest and reliable
  • Relevant computer / program skills
