1. Comply with all Company Policies & Procedures
2. Carry out routine maintenance of forklifts under your area of Responsibility. Servicing of forklifts at scheduled intervals - ± 250 to 300 hours or by time and/or date, depending on which comes first. Report tyre and fork condition – Wear & Tear and/or Damage. Report any damages on the forklift to the customer. Report any operator negligence or operating habits that may lead to damage on the forklift to the customer and driver supervisor. Report any repairs, damages or major overhauls that need to be done on your inspection report. Once job card loaded on the system ensure the inspection report signed by the customer.
3. Breakdowns:
Apply appropriate and thorough fault-finding techniques, avoid repeat breakdowns. Assess whether it can be fully repaired or at least made operational with spares in Van Stock. If the machine will be down for a period of time, communicate this to the customer and let him know your plan of action.
4. Administration:
Inspection reports must be correct and complete including customer details, part numbers and needs. Complete inspection reports must be handed in to stores daily. Daily timesheets must be complete and correct and handed in daily to stores. Spares requisitions must be complete and correct and handed into stores timeously to ensure that spares are received as quickly as
possible. Spares returns must be complete and correct and handed into stores, with the spares to be returned.
5. Field Service Vehicles:
Monitor service intervals and ensure that servicing is carried out timeously. Monitor tyre condition and ensure timeous replacement when necessary. Make sure any necessary repairs are carried out timeously. Ensure that Licence Renewal disc is applied timeously each year. Must be in possession of a Valid Correct Code Drivers Licence.
6. Delivery Vehicles, Trucks & Trailers:
Assist with servicing and repairs of if required.
7. Workshop:
Rebuild & Overhaul Engines, Gearboxes, Transmissions and other Forklift Components. Service and Repair Forklifts. Responsible for your workbay, Cleanliness, Safety and Security.
8. Responsible for company equipment under your control:
Hand Tools while on issue to you from the store, these are to be cleaned before being handed back. Service Van, Spray Bay and Welding Bay Equipment, as well as, Workshop Tools.
9. Keep up to date on changes in systems on new forklift models or makes.
10. Make sure that Customer Entry Permits for yourself, assistant & service van are renewed timeously.
11. Actively liaise with your superior and keep him informed about any problems/delays, spares requirements, customers abusing forklifts, deadlines, working hours, change in operations and Forklift Rental Opportunities
12. Attend to After-Hours and Weekend breakdowns, when on Standby Duty and if requested by the Standby Technician due to Customer Entry Permit restrictions.
13. Cell phone must be on at all times during standby duty & you may not go away for the entire standby period.
14. Spares robbing is severely frowned upon and may not be done without a Robbing Authority and then only in an absolute emergency.
15. Carry out any tasks or instructions given by supervisory staff or management
that fall within your capabilities.
