MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB
The job incumbent will be responsible to supervise the processing of product through the Furnaces (DHF & LO) and the Powder Milling Plant; in accordance with the production schedule, the individual customer requirements and the equipment capabilities.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION REGARDING THE JOB
In this position, the job incumbent will be part of the Marketing-Metal Handing House (MHH) team.  MHH section performs the value-add activities of metal washing, degassing, milling and packing of final products, according to customer specification. The job incumbent’s role is a key function to this team, as the person will be responsible for the smooth operation of the DHF & LO Furnaces and the Powder Milling Plant. The majority of the equipment operates on a 24hr/365day basis, and is dependent on the upstream section (electrolysis) for supply of raw material. The raw material (unwashed EMM) must be processed to match the requirements of the Sales plan of the Marketing team. Success in this role happens when effective utilisation of staff and equipment takes place within the ever-changing environment of volume and quality variations.
The team offers a very dynamic working environment, where the person will be part of the daily excitement of delivering the world’s highest quality EMM to customers all over the world, directly from the lovely town of Mbombela (Nelspruit).
SPAN OF CONTROL ·
To lead a team of 25 people, 7 are direct subordinates.
JOB OBJECTIVES ·
 Ensure on-time dispatches of final product through the effective utilisation of the DHF, LO and Powder Milling plants and people; · Liaise with the Maintenance and Engineering functions to ensure equipment availability; · Participate in continuous improvement projects to meet new customer demands; Ensure that all staff & production administrative duties are completed, including daily production reports and stock recons; · Adherence and compliance to all HSEQ legislation, policy and procedures at all times; · Supervise a successful high performing team to ensure growth and sustainability; · Adhere to the section cost control measures, leading to improved efficiencies.
MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS ·
Matric qualification with Maths and Science passed; · National diploma or B Degree in Production Management/ Industrial Engineering or Metallurgy will be desirable; · Minimum of 3 years’ management/supervisory experience in a production environment.
